Tussahaw District Training

The Tussahaw district is located in central Georgia. This land was originally the home of the Creek Indian Nation. Tussahaw comes from the Creek language and means locust. The word comes from the sound that the locust make in the summer (tazaaazaa...tazaaazaa). Many of our rivers, streams and roads get their names from the Creek Language.

Every Boy Deserves a Trained Leader

The journey from Fast Start to Wood Badge is a seamless progression for adults and an unending benefit for BSA youth. Fast Start Orientation and New Leader Essentials—the first two steps in new-leader training—introduce new leaders to the Boy Scouting program. Leader Specific Training, as the name implies, focuses on specific leader roles and will require several days to complete, depending on an individual's previous outdoor skills experience.  Outdoor Leader Skills is unsurpassed in passing along the essential training elements of outdoor cooking, knots & ropes, knives & axes, backpacking, trail etiquette, leave no trace, plant identification, first aid, working as a team, remembering that we are here for the boys, and just having plain ol fun.

Wood Badge has evolved into the premier leadership course of the BSA, strengthening a leader's ability to effectively work with groups of youth and adults.

Cub Scouting is just the beginning, this program is designed for the younger youth, their progression is an exciting part of their lives that they will never forget.  Cub scouting gives adults and boys the opportunity to work together to build everlasting memories and relationships.  As adults attend different levels of training it will better prepare the adult to pass alone time tested skills to cub scouts that will prepare them to be incomparable leaders, family members, citizens, and essential members of our society.

One of Scouting's greatest challenges is to make the next level of Scouting readily available for a young man once he meets the joining requirements.

Are you a friend of scouting????

The Friends of Scouting fund raising campaign is the single most important funding source for the Boy Scouts of America. Friends of Scouting dollars, along with other funding, make it possible for the Flint River Council to adequately carry out the Scouting programs that benefit thousands of registered scouts in our council area. In large part, the success of this campaign determines the quality of the programs that reach the young people in our council.

You can help shape America's future by investing in Scouting today!

Send your contributions to the Flint River Council, P. O. Box 173, Griffin, GA 30224, and mark it for Friends of Scouting.
